srtip industrial license

An SRTIP industrial license lets a company manufacture, assemble or process goods in SRTI Park, Sharjah. It suits light and advanced manufacturing, such as electronics, robotics and 3D printing. Heavy, port-dependent industry usually fits better in another Sharjah free zone.

What Is an SRTIP Industrial License?

It is a free zone trade license for turning raw materials or components into finished products. A commercial license covers trading, while a service license covers expertise. SRTIP, also called SRTI Park or SPARK, sits next to University City in Sharjah.

Unlike most industrial zones, srtip adds labs, prototyping and university partners on one site.

What Activities Does It Cover?

SRTIP lists more than 1,500 activities, and one license can hold up to five compatible ones. Common industrial categories include:

Category

Examples

Extra approval often needed

Advanced manufacturing

Precision parts, machine assembly

Civil defence

3D printing

Printed parts, short production runs

Facility approval

Electronics and IoT

PCB assembly, sensors

TDRA type approval

Clean technology

Confirm the exact activity name on our business activities list before you apply.

Who Should Choose SRTIP for Manufacturing?

SRTIP suits production that is light, technical and close to R&D. Good fits include hardware startups, engineering firms, clean-tech companies and university spin-outs.

Which Production Spaces Can You Use?

Your space decides your approvals, visa quota and renewal paperwork.

How Do You Get an SRTIP Industrial License?

Follow these ten steps:

  1. Define your products, machinery, materials and any waste or emissions.
  2. Choose up to five compatible activities, adding trading if you sell your own goods.
  3. Pick an FZE for one shareholder, an FZC for several, or a branch.
  4. Reserve your company name with our trade name checker.
  5. Apply for initial approval with your business plan.
  6. Lease your production space.
  7. Pay the fees and receive your license.
  8. Get fit-out, civil defence and any environmental approvals.
  9. Register with MoIAT if you meet its criteria.
  10. Process visas, open a corporate bank account and register for tax.

SRTIP quotes 5 to 10 working days for the license once documents are complete.

What Documents Do You Need?

Each shareholder and manager needs a passport copy, specimen signature and proof of address. UAE residents also add a visa and Emirates ID copy. Corporate shareholders need incorporation papers, a good standing certificate and a legalised board resolution.

For approvals, prepare a process description, machinery list, floor plan and raw materials list.

Do You Need a MoIAT License Too?

Yes, if you want customs duty exemptions on production inputs. MoIAT’s Industrial Production license adds your factory to the federal industrial register. Registered factories can then apply for exemptions on machinery, equipment, raw materials and packaging.

MoIAT’s criteria include at least 10 employees and AED 250,000 in factory capital. The service is free apart from an AED 100 inspection fee. Confirm with
MoIAT how it treats your SRTIP license.

How Much Does an SRTIP Industrial License Cost?

Standard SRTIP packages start from AED 5,500 a year. Industrial setups cost more because they need production space. Budget for:

  • license and registration fees
  • Rent for your lab, unit or plot
  • Fit-out and utility connections
  • Facility approvals and visas
  • 5% VAT where it applies

Can Manufacturing Income Qualify for 0% Corporate Tax?

Yes, if you meet every Qualifying Free Zone Person condition. Ministerial Decision No. 229 of 2025 lists manufacturing and processing as qualifying activities.

Watch two traps. Sales to individuals count as non-qualifying revenue for a manufacturer. Non-qualifying revenue must not exceed 5% of revenue or AED 5 million, whichever is lower.

If you fail a condition, you lose Qualifying Free Zone Person status. Standard rates then apply for that tax period and the next four. Our
tax and accounting team can model this before you commit.

On VAT, SRTIP is not a designated zone, so normal mainland rules apply. That means 5% VAT, with zero-rating for qualifying exports.
